Do not choose Apple Pencil from the iPad family name alone. Identify the exact iPad model and generation in Settings, then match it against Apple’s current compatibility list. Pencil Pro, USB-C, second-generation and first-generation models support different iPads, and some pairings require a minimum iPadOS version or the USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter.
